book one down
so, my first 234 pages are done and only 4266 left to go. [yes, i had to use a calculator for that math!]
i just finished reading “when kumbaya is not enough” by dean borgman. he’s a professor i had during my master’s at fuller. it’s a book on coming up with a practical theology for every aspect of ministry to students.
- pop culture and art
- humor and more
like i said the other day, i’m still shaking the cobwebs out of my mind, but it’s starting to come. this book was inspiring and scary all at once. the task is nearly overwhelming to dig deep into students lives and to offer practical theological grounding for the situations they live in and deal with. the key is to do this with grace and from a stance of love and understanding. a willingness to withhold our judgments and opinions and truly share the love and truth of Christ is the key. eric, if you’re reading this blog, this is a book you would appreciate based on our conversation the other day at good earth. you can borrow it if you would like.
next: family based ministry. 200 more pages in just a few days i hope!
