starting right was my first “textbook”. there don’t seem to be too many of these around in the youth ministry world. it was a tough book too because there were so many different lenses to look at youth ministry through and so many different perspectives given. each chapter was written by a different author with something to say that they felt was important. it was organized well, but it left my head spinning about all these ways to go in ministry and i’ve been down a lot of these avenues.
something it gave me however, was a renewed need for understanding the theology of what we do and the importance of the soul of the youth worker for ministry. it’s easy after 14 years of doing this to go on autopilot, forget my soul and program away without hearing from the heart of God.
this book was a nudge, or kick back to some things i’ve let slip. thanks!
only 3674 pages of reading left in 40 days. yikes!
