overpowered by Jesus
this is even later that the previous post. i’m on a roll!
i’m cutting and pasting this post wholesale from THE JOLLY BLOGGER because i liked it so much, especially the picture above. you can also tell it’s someone else’s work because he uses caps properly.
Here’s a good thought from Oswald Chambers that is from the January 24th reading of My Utmost for His Highest. I thought it might encourage you.
Our Lord said to Paul, in effect, “Your whole life is to be overpowered or subdued by Me; you are to have no end, no aim, and no purpose but Mine.”
Note – the image is Rembrandt’s “The Apostle Paul.”
the picture looks like someone who is overpowered and in deep thought about Jesus. sweet! oh yeah, and i would love to be overpowered by Jesus instead of my own garbage or life in general. to be subdued by Christ beats the alternatives. the compunction [hopefully i used that word correctly] to do as Christ, be Christ’s always and to know myself less as i know Christ more would be a hard and powerful life change. but isn’t that why we were created?
